As Arizona’s oldest independent automotive repair company, Wilhelm Automotive takes pride in maintaining your vehicle with the simplest of services. Experience has provided our technicians with the value of changing your fluids on a regular basis. Replacing your motor oil is one of the more important fluids to maintain the health of your engine. Depending on the manufacturer’s factory recommended maintenance schedule your oil change can vary between every 3,000 and 6,000 miles.

Arizona heat can add to the break down the oils viscosity over time causing less lubrication to your vital engine components. Removing the oil during your routine maintenance visit can help maintain the quality of lubrication of your engine. All Wilhelm Automotive Service Centers provide Synthetic-Blend motor oil with all standard oil changes. Full Synthetic and High Performance Synthetics, like Mobil 1, are also available. With the most up to date technology and information our staff will insure the proper oils and oil filters are installed on your vehicle.

With many locations throughout Peoria, Surprise, Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Happy Valley, Cave Creek, Queen Creek, Glendale, Chandler and Phoenix, there is a Wilhelm Automotive Service Center near you. Call your nearest location to set your next vehicle Maintenance Service.

Frequently Asked Questions

This is by far one of the most common questions about oil change service. The answer depends on the type of vehicle you have, your driving habits, and the type of oil you use. For example, synthetic oil does not need to be changed as frequently and often lasts 7,000 to 10,000 miles.

Most manufacturers recommend having an oil change done every 5,000 to 7,000 miles under normal driving conditions. The viscosity and effectiveness of your oil can wear down faster if your regular driving includes:

  • Higher temperatures (like we experience here in Arizona)
  • High mileage driving
  • Frequent towing or hauling heavy loads
  • Frequent short trips

At Wilhelm Auto Repair & Tires, we recommend having oil change service done every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. This allows us to not only help make sure your oil is performing at its best, but also check your vehicle’s other fluids, top off your tire pressure, and help keep your vehicle safe.

Your engine oil works to lubricate all of the moving components within the engine, reduce heat caused by friction, and absorb by-products caused by combustion. Over time, dirt and debris are picked up by the oil as it circulates through your engine, reducing its effectiveness. Not getting your oil changed and filter replaced regularly can lead to a decreased engine life, sticking pistons, and engine overheating. Avoid having to face costly repairs or even having to replace your whole engine by following the suggested oil change schedule for your vehicle. If you’re unsure what the proper oil change schedule is for your vehicle, our technicians will be glad to advise you.

If your oil level is a little low and you add new motor oil to bring your oil level back up to normal, the new oil doesn’t clean the old oil. The old, dirty, and sometimes sludgy oil just mixes with the clean, new oil. This means that you won’t get nearly the performance from the new oil and more stress is put on your engine. The oil won’t be able to effectively lubricate the engine components and reduce heat caused by friction.

If  your oil levels are dangerously low, you should top off the oil to bring it closer to normal range. But make sure to come into your closest Wilhelm Auto Repair & Tire location for a full oil change service as soon as you can!

Your owner’s manual will provide the manufacturer’s recommendation for the best type of oil for your specific vehicle. It may also include recommendations based on certain climates or driving conditions.

Different types of oil, like full synthetic or conventional, all have different viscosities and performance in protecting your engine. Many newer vehicles require full synthetic motor oil, but not always. Some require synthetic blend or conventional oil. High-mileage motor oil often provides added protection for vehicles with 75,000 miles or more.

Our expert technicians here at Wilhelm Auto Repair & Tires can help you pinpoint the best type of motor oil for your vehicle. Schedule your appointment today and make sure your engine can run at its best.

Yes, you can. Changing from synthetic oil to conventional oil or vice versa does not cause any problems. You can also change brands when getting your next car oil change. It is highly suggested though to follow the manufacturer recommendations when it comes to the best type of oil for your vehicle. This will ensure you are getting the best protection for your engine.

There are essentially two types of oil: conventional oil and synthetic oil. Conventional oil is a natural mineral oil. Synthetic oil is chemically engineered and blended with additives to keep the oil cleaner longer and increase its ability to flow more freely through the engine with less friction.

A synthetic blend motor oil is a mixture of synthetic oil and conventional oil, while full synthetic motor oil is entirely chemically engineered. Synthetic blend motor oil provides better engine protection than conventional oil but not quite all the benefits of full synthetic. This is why a full synthetic oil change is more expensive than a synthetic blend or conventional oil change. With full synthetic motor oil, you are getting the highest level of oil performance and engine protection.

Here at Wilhelm Auto Repair & Tires, we have the options of conventional oil, synthetic blend, full synthetic, and high-performance synthetic motor oil. Make sure to check out our oil change coupons to help save you money on your next oil change service.

There are a couple of ways you can determine if it is time for an oil change. These include:

  • Seeing a “Low Oil” light or “Check Engine” light illuminated on your car’s instrument panel.
  • The oil comes out in globs, feels gritty, or is milky when you check your engine’s oil dipstick.
  • The oil level is low when checking with the dipstick.
  • Your engine is running louder than it normally does.

The best thing is to follow your vehicle manufacturer’s recommended oil change schedule. Every time you get an oil change done at a service center, like here at Wilhelm Auto Repair & Tire, a sticker will be placed on the inside of your windshield to help remind you when you are due for your next oil change based on time or mileage.
